Announcing The Writer's Miracle Method
My new book will help you write with confidence from the Spirit within.
There are moments in life when an idea feels like it chooses you. That’s how The Writer’s Miracle Method began for me—not as an idea for a writing book, but as a whisper, a nudge, a gentle insistence from Spirit that kept returning in the quiet moments of my days.
I didn’t set out to write another guide to craft. I set out to follow the thread of what writers truly need in a world that so often fills us with fear.
For years I’ve watched writers transform—not because they learned structure or dialogue (though those matter), but because they changed their relationship with themselves. They learned to listen inwardly. They let their writing become a spiritual practice, a remembering, a homecoming.
I’ve seen writers come alive again. I’ve seen them reclaim their courage. I’ve seen them write the stories they were born to tell.
And I know that transformation because it’s my story, too. Writing has healed me, stretched me, humbled me, and opened doors I didn’t know were there. It has brought me into rooms of women who whisper their fears and let me hold their hands. It has brought me into communities of writers where I’ve watched miracles unfold.
And so today, I’m deeply grateful to share something that feels like the fulfillment of a dream:
My new book, The Writer’s Miracle Method, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in October, 2026.
This book is a 30-day program of moving from fear to love, from self-doubt to self-confidence, from “Who am I to write this?” to “How could I not?” It’s the book I needed years ago. It’s the book so many of you have inspired with your honesty and your courage.
It began several years ago, when I wrote a piece called Writing Your Way Home. That essay came from a place inside me that recognized something universal in practically every writer I’ve ever known. Here’s an excerpt:
Deep in the heart of every writer I’ve ever met is a yearning to be heard, to know she or he matters. Writing, at its core, is saying: Listen to me. I have something worth saying. I want to be known.
For some, writing is a way of working things out, sorting, mining. For others, it’s a romp in the imagination, filled with assassins and kings. But deep down, what every writer is saying is: I matter.
The home we’re looking for—the true measure of our worth as a writer—isn’t in followers or accolades or awards or bank balances. It’s inside us, in the very essence of life and light we brought to this physical world of story when we were born.
And the good news is, no matter how far off it may seem, finding it is just a thought away.
After writing that piece, I felt a pull I couldn’t ignore. I remember thinking: “There’s a book here.” A book about the spiritual questions that follow writers everywhere—the doubts, the fears, the longing to come home to ourselves on the page. And so the journey began.
This book has had its own trajectory, with stops and starts, long quiet periods, bursts of insight. It has grown as I’ve grown. It has been shaped by decades of my own writing fears and breakthroughs, hundreds of conversations with writers, my study of spiritual teachings over the past decades, a class I created a few years ago for writers walking a spiritual path, and the entire Story Summit community.
Each chapter addresses one of the most common fears and self-doubts writers face, including:
Who am I to think I can write?
What if I fail? What if I succeed?
What if I’m not good enough?
What if no one cares what I have to say?
What if I can’t finish?
What if my biggest obstacle is… me?
Each chapter begins with a story—sometimes mine, sometimes a writer’s I’ve walked with.
Then it explores:
the origin of the fear (the ego’s quiet sabotage)
the miracle (the shift from fear to love)
a core spiritual teaching that brings us back to truth
journaling prompts and guided meditations to help you remember the higher self within
Miracle Minutes—short, practical steps you can take right now
a Personal Pledge—a written commitment to your higher mind
a Miracle Checkpoint—so your transformation becomes real over time
This is a 30-day spiritual writing program—a companion, a guide, a practice. My hope is that, by the end of the 30 days, you won’t just feel different about your writing. You’ll feel different about yourself.
As we move into Thanksgiving week, I feel incredibly blessed by the opportunity to write this book. And I feel so grateful to you, because The Writer’s Miracle Method is shaped by every conversation we’ve had, every class, every doubt, every breakthrough.
In the weeks ahead, I’ll share thoughts from the book with you—stories, Miracle Minute tools, and some of the fears we’ll walk through together, because you’ve been part of this story from the beginning.
The manuscript is due to my editor January 19, so please send good energy! I’ll keep you posted on the journey as we go along.
I want to leave you with something I wrote for the book—a reminder for all of us that, as writers and as human beings, we can choose between self-doubt and clarity, between fear and love.
When the old fears tug at you—when they wake you at 3 a.m. with that familiar ache of self-questioning—you will have another option. You can choose again. You can think differently. You can return to your higher mind and remember that your thoughts—especially the ones you hold about yourself and your writing—are creative forces. You are not here to prove yourself or control the world. You are here to express the immense, quiet, unshakable power of love.
That is your miracle.
This is your method.
Thank you for being a part of this journey — truly. I can’t wait to share more with you in the days ahead!
With blessings,
Deb
